  4. Clara Roberts-Oss

Movement has always been sacred to me. I have danced my whole life, whether it’s been grooving to a good song, taking dance classes or flowing through a vinyasa, my body can’t get enough. Through movement, I feel as though I’m communing with the Divine. I took my first vinyasa class in 2000 at Jivamukti Yoga Center. I had a feeling of arriving home. We moved through postures seamlessly with an emphasis of breath-body connection. The class gave me what the dance world didn’t, an emphasis on the internal journey. I met Shiva Rea shortly thereafter and again felt as though I had come home. Shiva had created a language for the kind of movement I’ve been doing my whole life. She, too, understood the idea of fluidity. I’ve completed my 300 hour Prana Flow Certfication with Shiva.

I thank all my teachers for sharing their passion of this practice with me: David Life for opening my heart, Stacey Brass for her minute cues that have changed me life, Uma for opening my voice, Dana Flynn for throwing out all the rules and inspiring me to do the same, Constantine Darling for showing me another way, and Paul Ortega for reminding me we are ALL the cosmic dancer. I invite you to be playful in your practice, remembering that lightness is found in spirit!

  5. Shelley Tomczyk

Shelley began practicing yoga in 1997 and started teaching in 2001. She holds an E-RYT 500 certificate and is Anusara trained but also has studied Ashtanga and Iyengar Yoga as well as Yoga therapeutics for many years. Shelley's classes build discipline and strength to enhance the integrity and the delight of practice. She shares her captivation by the teachings and stories within the yoga tradition through a fearless and curious investigation of the world, as much as the asanas, and helps students uncover their own process of transformation on the path and in everyday life. It is her great honor to have studied with teachers who inspired her to relentlessly practice self-observation, intentional vulnerability and on-going studentship.

  7. Peter Elmas

I am a Yogi – practitioner, student and teacher - and I have a deep passion for this wonderful practice and lifestyle. From my first experiences with asana, pranayama and meditation I knew that Yoga would be my path. My main goal in life is to share that passion and this practice that has transformed me profoundly with as many people as I can. I teach from personal experience and from my Heart. I believe in a practice led by breath and the innate wisdom of the body. I take students through sequences and into asanas with precision while encouraging them to turn inwards and observe the profound effects of the practice in the moment. I teach humbly and as a channel for this amazing tradition forever grateful to my teachers and those who have guided me.

  10. Mari Dickey

I believe that growth comes from the willingness to challenge ourselves and experience things that take us outside our comfort zone. Transformation occurs when we are open to the unknown and allow ourselves to be vulnerable. I want to be brave enough to always try even if I fail and fall and to have the courage to rise again. My yoga practice provides a safe space where I can play in the unknown- where I can connect with what is real- here and now, and delve into that deeper part of myself that is true and ever steady.
I am humbled and inspired everyday I get to teach, everyday I get to share space and watch courageous yogis go deep into themselves and realize their own amazing limitless potential.
I teach an alignment-based practice of movement and breath that is both accessible and challenging- a flow that is dynamic, strong and fluid with lots of opportunity to get rooted through the hands and play upside down.
Deepest gratitude to all the amazing people who have inspired me along the way. Special thanks to my teachers Ryan Leier, Dustin Fruson, Srivatsa Ramaswami, Mike Nichol, Suzanne Slocum-Gori, Kelly Colleen, Jasmina Egeler and Esak Garcia.

  13. Sara Jade Gooding

I’m just practicing. Just like everyone else. Practicing to be a better person, to be a kind and conscious person in my everyday life. Humbled by the heart opening aspects of my practice – I’m gracious to share the abilities the teachings give to shed light on the authentic Self. I feel blessed to have found yoga. My journey to align more fully with my truth through Asana has allowed me to discover freedom, through letting go. It is our true nature to be love, fully free, to remember that we are all connected and supported by the beautiful Earth. Honoring roots, I draw from tradition but am inspired by the creative flow that exists in each breath. In my classes I encourage people to move with intention, to love, to go inward, to feel, to be expressive with the beauty of the body and delight in this sacred scientific art. Often I use music as an influence to move and be, allowing for breath to inform movement gracefully and aligned with purpose. I truly believe in the transformative power of the practice for the practitioner and for the planet.

Join me on the mat, investigate and excavate, yoga will reveal Self.

I’ll take you on a journey through the physical and subtle bodies. Utilizing a creative flow of Yang and Yin postures, like poetry in motion.
We’ll embody breath as a tool to release the body’s daily reaction to stress and tension.
Breathe to free the mind. What else is there?
    — IT’S ALL YOGA !

  15. Carter Toni

Carter is a student of Krishnamacharya’s lineage of yoga. His classes offer space to dive deeper into the self through exploration of the breath, the mind, and the shape of the physical body. Each practice is a new experience that brings the opportunity to ask questions and work towards the ultimate discovery of who we are.

  16. Kate Gillespie

My practice began about 16 years ago. Years of competitive sports had me wound so tight that it took nearly a year to touch my toes. There was an immediate shift in my hamstrings, but the far more profound shift in my whole being was what hooked me. Yoga is magic.

I credit the depth of my practice and love of yoga to the many esteemed teachers I have studied with over the years. I am currently most inspired by the intelligence of Annie Carpenter's SmartFLOW, the mindful creativity of Schuyler Grant's Kula Flow and the philosophy of Katonah Yoga I've learned through Abbie Galvin.

I look forward to many more years of falling deeply in love with this magical practice. I am honoured to share my biggest passion by leading international retreats, teacher trainings, workshops and public classes across Canada. After a few wonderful years in the Toronto community, I now call Vancouver home.

  18. Millissa Greenwood

Millissa has been loving, living and thriving in the AcroYoga world where she has finally found a place that feels like home. She got hooked like many, through the grace, beauty and ease of flying. Yet, over the years has developed a deeper and fuller love of Acro and now bases and flys with parallel strength and excitement. Her love of Acro is rooted in the self-expression and creativity it fosters in all AcroYogis, from beginner to advanced. For Millissa, the cherry on top is the strength and delicacy required to release the ever elusive, and ultimately fulfilling personal creative expression.

  19. Paul M. Gelinas

One of my goals in the acro community is to communicate the powerful metaphor of acro yoga to all participants. A playful practice can often surprise us and destroy preconceived ideas of what we tell ourselves is possible. Amongst other things, I use acro as an access point to empowerment and connection. I use playfulness and humor to help participants develop the confidence and skills needed to progress safely and creatively.

I am a co-founder of Vancouver Acro Festival, an active member of the community, and I lead regular acro classes in Vancouver. I have completed a 100 hour AcroYoga Teacher Training, 500 hour yoga teacher training, a 300 hour Yoga Therapeutics training, and have been certified as a personal trainer for nearly 10 years.
